Alabama Workers Compensation Questions: (13) What are TPD Benefits?

Alabama Workers Compensation Questions: (13) What are TPD Benefits?

Temporary Partial Disability (TPD) Benefits is the name give to the workers’ compensation check an injured worker receives during the period of time they are unable to work full time (or earn the same wages that they did prior to their job injury) due to a job injury, but they are working some.

TPD benefits are payable at a rate of 2/3rds of the difference in the injured workers’ average weekly wage prior to their job injury as opposed to what they are receiving while still undergoing medical treatment in an attempt to recover from their job injury. For example, if for the 52-weeks preceding their job injury the worker earned $1,000.00 per week, but while recovering they are only working part time and making $500.00 per week, they would be entitled to 2/3rds of $500.00-or $333.35-per week until the time they reached maximum medical improvement (MMI).

Like ttd benefits, TPD benefits are temporary in nature and end once the injured worker is said to have reached maximum medical improvement (MMI).

If you or someone you care about has been injured at work, are unable to work and you have questions about what benefits you are entitled to under Alabama’s Workers’ Comp Statute, the experienced Alabama Workers’ Comp attorneys at would be happy to talk with you.
